Leica and ESRI Announce Selections for GIS/GPS Demonstration Projects
Leica Geosystems and ESRI announced selections for the first three participants in the State and Local Government GIS/GPS Demonstration Project Program.
The Phase I demonstration projects selected are: Multnomah County, Oregon, Department of Environmental Services Transportation Division; Miami Conservancy District, Ohio; and Greater Richmond Transit Company, Virginia. Each will receive a complete suite of ESRI's ArcView GIS software, a Leica GS50 GIS/GPS receiver, Leica's GIS DataPRO office software, complete documentation and training, with a total value of $18,900.
Leica and ESRI launched the GIS/GPS State and Local Government Demonstration Project Program to foster innovative approaches to solving government problems through the combined use of GIS and GPS technologies. Up to 10 demonstration projects will be supported.
Applications for the demonstration program are being accepted through August 31, 2000. The Phase II notification will take place on September 22, 2000.
