Carlson Survey and Civil 2020 Updated
Civil 2020 Offers User Interface Upgrades, Efficiency Tools
Carlson Survey is a Windows software application for managing the complete job cycle from field data collection to drafting a final plan with several CAD options. Carlson Survey allows users to design and produce a 2D drawing, an enhanced 3D surface model and construction layout data sets. Carlson Software’s latest release of Survey 2020 brings UI upgrades along with a host of new features and tools to improve day-to-day efficiency.
A Migration Wizard for upgrading software as well as sharing settings and files across the office highlights this year’s list of customer-centric updates, according to Carlson. This migration tool allows users to install a new release and then transfer all of their previous settings, custom symbols, linetypes, fonts, etc., to the newer version.
A new Start Page and Open Drawing dialog box with a georeferenced map can be used as a visual filing system, making locating drawings easier. Users will be able to find projects based solely on their street address or georeferenced location.
There is a new Vertical Datum Utility that aids in converting datum and Field to Finish and boasts more new features to make data collection and drafting more efficient. Things like a new Parking special code that allows users to take just a few shots and automatically draw parking stalls is a time saver.
Carlson’s latest release of Civil and Hydrology 2020 brings UI upgrades that provide a more dynamic work experience along with new features including improved surface model and pipe network design. Users can easily make edits with the upgraded Triangulation Surface Manager, track those changes, and apply them when new data is entered. With improved entity linking, points and breaklines automatically update the TIN when modified manually or from Field to Finish. Triangulation Utilities such as Crop, Cut, Smooth, Simplify, Clean, and the new Carlson Surface Object are designed to work on large surfaces such as those from point clouds. Site Design tools such as the new Draw Template Polylines for creating curbs and the updated Edit-Assign Polyline Elevations improve the efficiency of designing and creating a 3D model.
