Nathan Vaughn of R.A. Smith National, headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., has been awarded Young Surveyor of the Year by the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors (WSLS). The award was presented during the WSLS Annual Surveyors’ Institute on Jan. 28.

The WSLS Young Surveyor of the Year award is presented annually to recognize the achievements of an outstanding land survey professional. Individuals who are named to receive the award are nominated by their peers due to their dedication of furthering the surveying profession.

Vaughn has more than 12 years of experience and is currently a survey transportation manager within R.A. Smith National’s survey division. He is also a survey data coordinator for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. In August 2015, Vaughn was appointed to a three-year term on the Wisconsin Land Information Council to represent WSLS. The council advises the Wisconsin Department of Administration on the administration of the Wisconsin Land Information Program

Vaughn holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with a minor in environmental studies from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and is a professional land surveyor.
