Why This New Survey Website Is Worth Your Time

March 20, 2013
A website launched in conjunction with National Surveyors Week boasts features that are designed to make finding the right survey tools easier-with a potentially big payoff.

Happy National Surveyors Week! Around the nation, surveyors are taking advantage of the annual week set aside to honor the profession by leading or participating in community activities, giving presentations in schools, and spreading the word through social media.

Allen Precision Equipment (APE), a leading provider of surveying and construction equipment based in Duluth, Ga., is celebrating this week by launching an innovative Online Marketplace for Surveyors, Engineers and Contractors-one that has been more than 16 months in the making. This new online destination for surveyors is designed to make it easier and more affordable to buy hardware, software and supplies. More than 3,000 products and 75 brands are available.

General Manager Tracy Foran said the idea originated with APE’s popular catalog and was built with the needs of today's surveyors in mind. "APE’s unique combination of experience, service, support, and on-site and in-house training distinguishes it from dot-com era retailers he said. “But it’s not just an ecommerce site. It’s also a way to interact with our experienced technical support staff to get guidance and custom quotes.”

Top sellers and online exclusive sale items are prominently featured on the homepage. Visitors can sign up to speed their checkout process, receive special promotional offers, store multiple shipping addresses, track their orders and create wish lists. Knowledgeable representatives are available for a live chat on weekdays during posted hours.

“One of the tools of great value for our online shoppers is the ability to compare different products and brands side by side,” he said. “That makes it easier to explore key features and narrow down purchasing decisions.”

The site is launching with a big incentive: Visitors who purchase an item in the marketplace during National Surveyors Week will be entered to win a daily $200 prize or a $1,000 grand prize.

“Surveyors have been the backbone of APE's success for almost four decades. It was only fitting to launch such an important initiative this week," Foran said.
