March 15-21, 2009, has been designated National Surveyors Week. According to the National Society of Professional Surveyors, "Surveyors Week represents the time each year when all surveyors have the opportunity to join in celebrating their profession. Through this celebration they promote public recognition of surveyors and surveying."
A quick search on Google shows that in Oregon, surveyors are celebrating by restoring a historical site in the west hills of Portland. Another surveyor is revisiting the surveying past of Frederick, Md. The Rolling Hills chapter of N.J. Society of Professional Land Surveyors celebrated by buying a $1,000 land-mine detector and donating it to a United Nations humanitarian program to help countries deal with unexploded devices.
