In an impassioned video speech released this week, GITA Executive Director Bob Samborski urged GITA members and nonmembers alike to help shape the future of the organization by providing feedback and suggestions. Samborski noted that focus groups at the annual conference in Phoenix in April and subsequent surveys pointed out a number of areas where the association needs to improve, including gaining a better focus, providing increased value and improving communication of that value.

“We’re going to evaluate, rebuild and improve our relevance to the geospatial community once step at a time, beginning now,” Samborski said. “I’m committed to listening to you. Our board of directors is committed to listening to you. And we will react by improving GITA’s value and relevance to you. We’ll need your help to do that.”

“Don’t hold back,” he added. “The opposite of love is not hate-it’s indifference. We can’t afford for you to be indifferent about GITA right now.”
