October 28, 2009
Persistence finally pays off bigtime for Adolf Jonietz, 48, a senior land surveyor for Spectra Environmental Group.

SCHENECTADY, NY (10/26/2009)(readMedia)-- Forty-eight-year-old Adolf Jonietz of Clintondale, Ulster County, has been playing the same Lottery numbers for years with varying degrees of success. It wasn't until October 20, 2009 that his persistence paid off in a most timely fashion for the senior land surveyor for the Poughkeepsie-based Spectra Environmental Group.

"I won $250,000 on my 20th wedding anniversary," said Jonietz who celebrated the occasion in style with his wife, Kate, and the couple's two daughters.

Jonietz won the $250,000 second prize in the Mega Millions drawing held on October 20, 2009. To win second prize, players must match five numbers. Players who match five numbers plus the Mega Ball win the jackpot. Jonietz said he's won small prize amounts in the past using his lucky set of numbers, but nothing of this magnitude. "I'm in a state of disbelief," he said.

Jonietz purchased his $250,000 second prize Mega Millions ticket on October 20th at the Xtramart on Route 9W at Chapel Hill Road in Highland, Ulster County. He claimed his ticket at the Lottery's Customer Service Center in Fishkill on October 23rd.
