Online marathon simulator off to a good start

Chicagotribune.com: Land surveyor and endurance sport athlete Todd Goold, of Hayward, Wis., uses a Google Earth plug-in to create a Web site that simulates 11 running, mountain bike and cross-country ski races around the country.

Chicagotribune.com: If you're a first-time Chicago Marathon participant unfamiliar with the winding course, you can prepare for Sunday's race at racemyrace.com.

Using a Google Earth plug-in to simulate (in 3-D) 11 running, mountain bike and cross-country ski races around the country, including Chicago, the site allows users to relive runs, study the course of an upcoming race and overlay their races against other competitors.

The brainchild of Todd Goold, a land surveyor and endurance sport athlete from Hayward, Wis., racemyrace.com is a promising start for an online race simulator but could use some additional leg work ...
