Established Premier Event for the LiDAR industry

December 4, 2007
Momentum Grows – More than 500 delegates expected to attend

More than 500 delegates are expected to attend the 8th International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) that is being held in Denver, Colorado, USA from February 21 – 22 2008. The new organizers, Intelligent Exhibitions and TMSI, are actively working to ensure that every detail has been taken into consideration to ensure that Denver and the geospatial community are ready for ILMF’s arrival. With an international line up of exhibiting companies from the USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, China, India and Israel, ILMF is proud to be living up to its name. With a well established conference program attracting the world’s leading experts already in place, the addition of a workshop series catering to those new to the industry and a social program aimed at ensuring the business continues after hours – ILMF is confident that it will attract the ‘who’s who’ of LiDAR leaders, pioneers, experts from industry, government and academia who are looking to invest in and benefit from LiDAR technology and services.

Commercial focus for the Conference supported by ASPRS

For the first time, the ASPRS have given their formal support for the event recognizing that the Conference plays an important role by openly focussing on the technical and commercial issues facing the industry. ‘At ILMF we encourage companies to address the practical and commercial applications for LiDAR. Delegates will benefit from hearing presentations of real-life LiDAR projects, gaining an in depth understanding of operational experiences, both good and bad, and the lessons learned. All of this helps to clarify how much LiDAR’s operational efficiencies can benefit them in their own sectors of the geospatial community.’ stated Alastair MacDonald, ILMF Conference Chairman and co-author of the TMSI Global LIDAR Market Report. ‘The 2008 Conference will focus on the increasing capabilities of not only the data capture technologies but also the significant developments in rapid processing and visualization of LiDAR data.’ The full Conference program can be downloaded at http://www.lidarmap.org/ilmf2008/

Increased international representation from exhibitors

ILMF has always attracted the leading manufacturers, service providers and operators but for 2008 the significant development has been a larger number of international companies confirming their attendance. For the first time, ILMF will have exhibitors from Israel, Sweden, India and China which is in addition to the core group that have regularly supported the event from the USA, Canada and Germany. ILMF introduces "˜The Basics to Lidar Workshop Series'

Despite an increased usage of LiDAR, there is still a low awareness of the applications and benefits of the technology with many potential customers finding it difficult to differentiate between the various merits and suitability of LiDAR when compared with more traditional mapping tools. To address this need, the International LiDAR Mapping Forum has introduced a workshop series that aims to provide novice operators, their managers and potential purchasers of equipment with an understanding of the basic principles, fundamental benefits and technologies associated with LiDAR. Delegates attending these workshops will find out what LiDAR is, how it works, what the applications are, the cost benefits and how it compares with other mapping technologies. A must attend event for LiDAR professionals

Whether you are a seasoned operator or new to the business, the ILMF event provides a breadth of knowledge that is unique to this event. If your goal is to evaluate whether or not to enter the market, build on current relationships, secure deals or improve on existing knowledge, ILMF is the ONE event that provides a focused opportunity to meet with LiDAR professionals from around the world.
