TRIPOD DATA SYSTEMS (TDS) announced the Recon NX series, a low-cost version of the TDS Recon data collector that includes 200-MHz and 400-MHz models and offers the same performance as all Recons, but does not include CompactFlash expansion slots. Like all Recons, the NX series meets MIL-STD-810F military standards for drops, vibration and temperature extremes. It also has an IP67 rating, meaning it's impervious to water and dust. The Recon NX series is available in two models: NX200 (with a 200-MHz Intel XScale processor and 64 MB of Flash memory) and NX400 (with a 400-MHz Intel XScale processor and 128 MB of Flash memory). Both Recon NX series models come with Windows Mobile software and a 15-hour rechargeable battery. (TDS, Corvallis, Ore.)
