ViA and Carlson: Wearable PC

ViA Inc. and Carlson developed the Wearable PC, a field computing platform. The system contains a CPU package, a battery pack, a holstered screen module and a version of Carlson’s Tsunami software. Other features include a sun reflective screen display, a USB port, a miniature RS232 (serial) port, a wearable vest configuration, and a full docking station to use the system as a desktop. LizardTech Inc. released DjVu software, a scan to Web conversion software. DjVu enables users to view, store and transmit documents via the Internet at ratios up to 1,000 times smaller than TIFF and up to 100 times faster than Adobe PDF. DjVu includes text-searching capabilities and an easy to add hyperlink feature.
