Weekly updates.

Trimble, Sunnyvale, Calif., supplied the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with its GPS timing technology, Trimble synchronization kits, for the FAA’s Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) system.

The TDWR uses GPS as an easy-to integrate accurate time source for weather products. The TDWR system provides increased safety measures and improved runway/airfield management throughout 45 major U.S. airports. In addition, the system provides graphic and text-based information to air traffic control, hazardous weather alerts in the terminal area and changing wind conditions.

The systems are being installed at sites with a wide-range of climate conditions.
