Leica Geosystems Releases the GS5 and GS5+

September 1, 2001
Leica Geosystems released the GS5 and GS5+ high-accuracy GPS receiver. This receiver is the first to provide direct sampling of the GPS radio signals without the need for intermediate frequency (IF) support circuitry. The GS5 provides 3-4 meter accuracy in a non-differential mode, while the GS5+ provides 1-2 meter accuracy and uses differential error-correction signals from the U.S. Coast Guard DGPS beacons. The GS5 receivers interface directly to an ESRI ArcPad Data Collector or any standard GIS data collection system. (Leica Geosystems, Atlanta, Ga.)
