NovaLIS Technologies’ Provides Solution to Property Assessors 12.17.2001

December 17, 2001
New features include a sketch tool.

NovaLIS Technologies, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, released Assessment Office 8.1, an affordable, off-the-shelf computer assisted mass appraisal system.

The new release will provide the ability to utilize Marshall and Swift’s building cost data and algorithms, a widely used cost approach to value for residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and manufactured housing.

A new feature of AO 8.1 is the sketch tool, which will enable users to sketch residential and commercial/industrial buildings of all shapes and sizes. When a sketch is complete, AO will automatically calculate and update the database with the new values, square footages, and the perimeters of all buildings and subsections. The sketch is stored in the temporal database so users can track changes made in a building sketch over time. The sketch data is openly published and, therefore, easily moved to other programs. AO 8.1 also provides for the creation of a bitmap file of the sketch, making it easy to place on a property record card or publish to the Web.

AO 8.1 provides capabilities to attach pictures, spreadsheets, drawings, scanned documents or any other file to an account. These attachments are then available for reports, analysis or distribution through AO. Assessment Office 8.1 will be released to beta in Spring 2001.
