Thales Navigation and GEO++ Team to Provide the Best in GPS Network RTK 05.02.2003

May 2, 2003
Thales Navigation, a leading global provider of GPS solutions, and Geo++ GmbH announced that Thales Navigation is marketing GNSMART reference station software from Geo++. The GNSMART, or GNSS State Monitoring and Representation Technique, software suite is designed for controlling networks of GPS reference stations, including the iCGRS from Thales Navigation which is the first direct Internet-connected reference station in the industry. GNSMART provides state of the art Network RTK (Real Time Kinematic) corrections using the Geo++ technique of broadcasting Area Correction Parameters (FKP).

Thales Navigation is currently making GNSMART available through its network of distributors and through direct sales. The software is offered along with Thales Navigation Micro-Z CGRS and iCGRS(TM) reference stations.

GNSMART Network RTK supports surveying at much longer ranges than point-to-point RTK with consistently high accuracy. Using GNSMART in conjunction with Thales Navigation reference stations, customers can reduce hardware and infrastructure costs as a result of using fewer reference stations and can still receive wide area RTK coverage.

GNSMART is available from Thales Navigation in two versions, GNSMART Lite and GNSMART Professional.

  • GNSMART Lite controls the GPS receivers, downloads data, generates RTCM, converts to RINEX, and more. It carries out a continuous, simultaneous adjustment of the data using the GEo++ "State Monitoring and Representation Technique" in order to model the dynamic state of the entire network caused byorbits, ionosphere, troposphere and other factors. RTCM data that are largely free from systematic errors are computed and transmitted either as FKP or as Virtual Reference Station (VRS) information.
  • GNSMART Professional, in addition to all the capability of GNSMART Lite, performs integrity monitoring. It analyzes the data, and generates alarms, statistics and reports.

The Thales Navigation Internet-Enabled Continuous Geodetic Reference Station (iCGRS) System provides direct Internet connectivity with a 12-channel, dual-frequency continuously operating geodetic reference station, making a laptop or other computer system unnecessary for data control, monitoring, or downloading.
