Maptech Adds GPS Sleeve to Pocket Navigator

January 1, 2002
Maptech added a GPS sleeve, by NAVMAN to its Pocket Navigator software. The sleeve currently only works with Compaq’s iPAQ Pocket PC. The Pocket Navigator/GPS solution gives access to detailed USGS topographic maps, NOAA nautical charts and FAA aeronautical charts with a direct GPS hardware integration. The GPS sleeve is a 12-channel receiver and contains a compact flash expansion memory slot. It comes with a mobile mount and includes a 12-volt power supply cable. Pocket Navigator works with any Pocket PC and can create routes and markers with distance and compass bearing information. It also offers real-time tracking and comes with a nine-pin patch cable to connect the GPS cable to the Pocket PC hand-held cable. (Maptech, Amesbury, Mass.)
