January 28, 2002
Panasonic meets Fieldworks.

XYZworks, the first company to provide surveying software for PocketPCs introduced a new data collection system on a rugged field hand-held PC, the new Panasonic Toughbook 01. It features a bright sunlight viewable color touchscreen, a 38-key keyboard, a removable camcorder style battery, and Windows CE 3.0. The magnesium alloy case is moisture, dust, and drop resistant to military specifications with sealed ports for protection against the elements. It is a lightweight 1 lb. design with an outstanding 3-year warranty.

The XYZworks software included is Fieldworks, which includes the ability to interface to all popular total stations, robotics and GPS units. The software includes data collection, stakeout, cogo, roading and plotting routines. Fieldworks includes custom addins for the PocketCAD program to create drawings while you collect, or for taking your AutoCAD design drawings to the field. It now works with Microstation DGN drawings as well.
