Parhelia graphics card’s advanced multi-display capabilities contribute to increased productivity

What’s happening: Matrox Graphics will demonstrate the Parhelia graphics card running applications from Autodesk and ESRI in Surround Design¾hardware accelerated 2D and/or 3D across single, dual or triple displays¾at the upcoming GeoTec Event, in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. This increased desktop real estate provides significant benefits for areas such as: government, public works, public safety and transportation.

When: Monday, March 17th: 2 p.m.-7 p.m.

Tuesday, March 18th: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Features of the Matrox Parhelia 128MB graphics card (also available in a 256MB configuration) that benefit geotechnology professionals include versatility through Surround Design and its support for specialized displays, such as the 9 megapixel IBM T221. Taking advantage of the increased desktop space provided by Surround Design, a surveyor can view more of a map, using Autodesk MAP, for instance, by stretching it across three displays for easier viewing and analysis. This greatly reduces the need for zooming and panning, tasks that significantly reduce productivity and ease of use. Another benefit of Surround Design is the ability to view a map in different zoom factors across the expanded desktop or consult a single file stretched across multiple displays.

The freedom to work with large models across two or three displays makes tasks such as surveying and mapping much more efficient and productive. Additionally, Surround Design makes it possible for one to consult training documents, work with collaboration tools, or keep an eye on incoming email while working on a project, reducing the need to minimize windows.

Similar to a large desk, which allows individuals to spread out documents, charts, or designs, Surround Design helps boost productivity by providing increased display real estate, which often reduces the need for scrolling and window switching. What’s more, Parhelia’s UltraSharp Display Output Technology ensures that displayed images are free of any pixel ghosting, sparkling or shadowing artifacts.
