GeoExpress product line provides advanced tools for creating and distributing network ready images.

Following up on the recent delivery of the MrSID 3.0 SDK for developers, Lizardtech Software announced GeoExpress with MrSID version 3.0 at GeoSolutions 2002. GeoExpress with MrSID features lossless encoding, the ability to update existing MrSID mosaics, dramatic performance enhancements, more flexible encoding options and numerous additional features to enable efficient creation and distribution of network ready images.

GeoExpress with MrSID is a wavelet-based imaging technology that dramatically increases the value of geospatial data by making it more accessible and useful while maintaining the highest level of quality and accuracy. GeoExpress 3.0 was especially designed for customers that require the highest quality level of image quality and for organizations that update image data. GeoExpress 3.0 lossless technology provides dramatic benefits to image data providers, military operations, GIS analysis/classification or for any application such as archiving that requires numeric pixel fidelity to the original source data. Organizations that update imagery such as data providers, state and local governments, civil engineering/construction will also greatly benefit by being able to update existing MrSID mosaics without the need to re-encode and to create mosaics from existing MrSID images.

Key new features in GeoExpress with MrSID include lossless encoding with 2 to 4:1 reduction in image file size - ideal for archiving since it enables storage of original quality imagery. In addition, an industry-first localized updating feature that enables users to add new imagery to existing MrSID mosaics plus the ability to mosaic existing tiled MrSID images into a seamless MrSID mosaic. Also new are more flexible encoding capabilities including image optimization and data cartridges that ensure creation of efficient and economical imagery for all applications. GeoExpress also supports unlimited file size encoding, a reduced footprint for temporary files, up to 300% increase in encoding speed and support for JPEG2000.
