Intergraph's G/Gas to enable enhanced planning support for distribution network expansion.

Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions announced Nanjing Gas will deploy G/Gas, Intergraph's next-generation solution for gas geofacilities management, as the enabling technology of a comprehensive Geospatial Resource Management (GRM) system. Nanjing Gas is the largest of 25 Chinese companies that have joint ventures with the utility giant, Hong Kong China Gas Company, also known as Towngas. By 2008, Nanjing is expected to have a pipeline network of more than 1,900 kilometers with gas consumption of 430 million cubic meters and 3,500,000 household customers.

G/Gas will give Nanjing a platform to supply detailed asset network information to management throughout the organization. G/Gas provides a suite of geofacilities management applications based on gas distribution industry-best practices. The application's robust capabilities and unprecedented openness help integrate key corporate systems and streamline day-to-day tasks of design and maintenance. Nanjing chose G/Gas for its open data format, configurable gas network modeling capabilities and its commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS)-based approach.
