TDS president announced; ASCE officers installed.

Martin
Trimble, Sunnyvale, Calif., announced that Bill Martin will assume the role of president of Tripod Data Systems (TDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Trimble. Martin will succeed Dave Scribner, who is retiring after serving as president for 12 years. Martin is now responsible for the worldwide sales of TDS product lines. He also directs distributor relationships throughout the company's U.S. and international sales network, and supervises corporate communications activities. Martin has a B.S. degree in survey engineering from the University of Maine.

Jim Grummon joined Allen Instruments & Supplies, Anaheim, Calif., as GIS Specialist for Southern California. Grummon is a 29-year veteran of GIS, GPS, mapping and navigation, and is an expert on ESRI products. Grummon holds a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Texas, El Paso. Allen Instruments & Supplies is a Trimble Navigation Dealer and ESRI Business Partner/ Reseller.

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) installed its newly elected officers, including the first woman president in the Society's 150-year history. Patricia D. Galloway, PE, FASCE, PMP, chief executive officer and president of The Nielsen-Wurster Group Inc., Princeton, N.J., was elected president. William P. Henry, PE, FASCE, marketing manager of Schaaf & Wheeler Consulting Civil Engineers, Seattle, Wash., was elected as the president-elect of ASCE. David G. Mongan, PE, FASCE, president of Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani LLC, Mechanicsburg, Pa., was elected as treasurer of ASCE. Members of the Board and vice presidents for 2003-2004 include William A. Welsh, Jr., PhD., PE, FASCE, for Zone I and Robert B. Thorn, PE, FASCE, for Zone III. New directors include Reza Darvishian, PE, FASCE, for District 5; Richard W. Klein, PE, MASCE, for District 7; Thomas Walther, PE, FASCE, for District 8; Mark W. Woodson, PE, FASCE, for District 8; Gregory DiLoreto, PE, FASCE, for District 12; Carl L. Blum, PE, FASCE, for District 13; and Stein Sture, PhD, PE, FASCE, for District 16.

Advance Precision Products, Atlanta, Ga., a full-line Trimble dealer, appointed Robert Stribling as survey sales specialist for the state of Georgia. Stribling earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia Institute of Technology. Since 1995 he has worked both as a surveyor and project manager for survey firms, and has trained field surveyors and computer aided-design technicians on the advanced practices of GPS units. Advance Precision Products represents Trimble machine control systems and the Spectra Precision Laser brand.
