Leica Geosystems announced a major strategic initiative to expand and integrate technical support, service and training for customers in North America. The effort is being spearheaded by Paul Stack, newly appointed vice president, support and service for the Americas.

Stack joins Leica Geosystems from Visteon Corporation, one of the world's largest suppliers of automotive parts and integrated systems. Prior to that, he held senior business development positions at Invensys PLC and Johnson Controls. He is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in mechanical engineering, and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Wisconsin.

In his new role at Leica Geosystems, Stack will have responsibility for overseeing customer service and support for surveying, machine automation, mining, lasers and leveling systems throughout North America.

As part of this strategic initiative, Leica Geosystems will open a totally new resource and support center in Lawrenceville, Georgia, early in 2005. This new facility will house the service and support organization for North America, and will feature a state-of-the-art training center.
