Kent C. Hudson of Rock Hill, S.C., was elected president of the South Carolina Society of Professional Land Surveyors at the annual convention held in June at Sheraton Myrtle Beach Hotel & Convention Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.  Hudson will serve as president for the July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013 fiscal year.

Hudson began surveying in 1995, working on large commercial construction sites as well as boundary, utility and topographic surveys.  During this time, he also earned a double major in civil engineering and graphics from York Technical College.  In 2000, Hudson transitioned into the private sector and advanced in the areas of leadership and management.  Hudson's career with Pittman Professional Land Surveying began in 2007, and he is now survey director at the firm.  He has previously served on the SCSPLS board of directors as SCSPLS president-elect, vice president and secretary, and he has also served as president of the Tri-County Chapter of SCSPLS.
