Joke of the Week: Sorry for eating the peanuts

Problem of the Week: Client Relations

Each week, we present a surveying problem for you to solve from the third edition of “Surveying Solved Problems for the FS and PS Exams” by Jan Van Sickle, PLS (formerly "1001 Solved Surveying Fundamentals Problems"), some jokes, trivia or other amusing items and a cool link to brighten your day. If you have a joke or link you would like to share, please submit it to sowal@bnpmedia.com.

## Joke of the Week

A man visits his aunt in the nursing home. It turns out that she is taking a nap, so he just sits down in a chair in her room, flips through a few magazines, and munches on some peanuts sitting in a bowl on the table.

Eventually, the aunt wakes up, and her nephew realizes he's absentmindedly finished the entire bowl. "I'm so sorry, auntie, I've eaten all of your peanuts!"

"That's okay, dearie," the aunt replied. "After I've sucked the chocolate off, I don't care for them anyway."

## Problem of the Week

If a surveyor agrees to locate a particular property line for a client and the client assures the surveyor that an approximate location will be adequate, which of the following statements characterizes the surveyor's best course of action?

(A) The surveyor should be certain the client understands that the monuments he establishes should not be relied upon to locate any improvements.

(B) The surveyor should word the certification of his plat in such a way as to eliminate any liability for reliance on the location he establishes.

(C) The surveyor should be mindful that people will rely on his monuments and either locate the boundary to the best of his ability or not accept the job.

(D) The surveyor should mark the line well inside his client's property to allow for a margin of safety.
