The model acquired is the ALS70-HP, capable of achieving measurement rates of 500 kHz, and offering unsurpassed control over the scan pattern on the ground. AeroMetric will use the system to map a wide variety of terrain conditions, from floodplain mapping to forestry, to detailed transportation, oil and gas and transmission line corridors.
Terry Keating, AeroMetric senior vice president and chief technology officer, said, “The ALS70 LiDAR system represents a significant advancement in airborne LiDAR mapping technology. This system brings our clients a variety of collection options for their projects, while allowing us to meet even tighter schedules and providing enhanced data quality.”
“There are two key advantages to this system: First, the ALS70 has a collection rate that allows us to fly higher, capturing a wider swath of data-which results in increased efficiency for large area projects. Second, the ALS70 utilizes full waveform pulses, which allows us to better analyze ground cover and extract more meaningful information from the LiDAR data,” said Rob Merry AeroMetric’s geomatics manager.
