ASPRS Launches Revised Website

The American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) launched a new version of its website last week during the 2011 Annual Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The site has been completely overhauled and now uses an Open Source Content Management System (CMS) along with an iMIS membership database, to serve materials on the site. The new site was streamlined to cut down on repetition, and tested to ensure that popular information was well labeled and easy to find.

ASPRS hired Suzanne Hallam of aGenius in California to redesign the ASPRS website and renovation began in October 2010, with beta testing performed by various segments of the ASPRS leadership prior to going live the last week in April 2011. The Ad Hoc Website Redesign Committee was headed by Dave Kreighbaum, ASPRS Executive Committee member and National Director for the ASPRS St. Louis Region. ASPRS Regions, Divisions and Committees are now able to manage their own sites and pages within the new ASPRS website with ease.

“The new website is easier on the eye and the larger buttons at the top make navigation much better,” remarked one conference attendee. Visitors to the site will find information about submitting papers for peer review to PE&RS, Student information, individual pages for ASPRS future and past conference, plus back issues of PE&RS, ASPRS Region website links, and searches for ASPRS Sustaining Member Companies, Certified Professionals, and ASPRS Members.
