Spatial Energy, the leading source for digital imagery, data management and services for the energy industry, and Apache Corporation, an oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in the United States, Canada, Egypt, the United Kingdom North Sea, Australia and Argentina, announced  the launch of an industry-leading environmental monitoring program to monitor assets globally using remote sensing data and services.

Spatial Energy, the leading source for digital imagery, data management and services for the energy industry, and Apache Corporation, an oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in the United States, Canada, Egypt, the United Kingdom North Sea, Australia and Argentina, today announced  the launch of an industry-leading environmental monitoring program to monitor assets globally using remote sensing data and services.

Identifying an industry need to take a pro-active approach to environmental monitoring of land and offshore operations, Apache and Spatial Energy have developed an enterprise-wide workflow process and operational program for monitoring worldwide exploration and production activities, along with acquisitions and divestitures, using advanced remote sensing techniques.

“Environmental stewardship is central to our operations, our stakeholders and our reputation. We felt it important to take advantage of the latest satellite imagery technology in developing and implementing an enterprise-wide environmental monitoring program.  We’re committed to being proactive in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our environmental decision-making process and making our operations more efficient with an on-going inventory monitoring program,” said David Carmony, Vice President, Health, Safety and Environment, Apache Corporation.

“We are excited about partnering  with Apache as they take the lead in this first-of-its kind energy industry initiative to monitoring the environmental impact and safety of their global operations in areas of current and historical development, as well as environmentally sensitive areas,” stated Bud Pope, Spatial Energy’s President.  “We will provide the latest high resolution satellite and aerial data, advanced algorithms and delivery methods, and the processing support necessary to meet the industry-leading standards set by Apache with this program.”
