January 2011, Dublin, Ireland

eSpatial, leading provider of GIS (Geographical Information Systems) and pioneer in GIS delivered via Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), continues to reinforce its position as an industry leader with 10 additional new hires.

Based at the company’s Irish headquarters, the new roles predominantly sit within the company’s technical departments, reflecting the substantial investment eSpatial continues to make in its technology, and particularly in the SaaS delivery model. Additional roles in sales and marketing reflect the potential for growth that the company sees in the market.

Philip O’Doherty, CEO of eSpatial, commented, “Even in a recession, competition for top talent can be fierce. We’re delighted to welcome individuals of such a high calibre to our team, and look forward to further expansion, particularly with the future success of our SaaS business.”

The emphasis on SaaS reflects international technology trends, as traditional enterprise-grade services are increasingly being offered in the cloud. SaaS customers typically enjoy a range of benefits that include a much lower total cost of ownership (avoiding costly server purchase and maintenance issues), on-demand upgrades, and flexible licensing arrangements.

iSMART SaaS GIS is a unique proposition for traditional GIS users:  unlike its competitors, it combines the advantages of delivery from the cloud with all the full functionality of a standard desktop GIS.
