Langan and President David T. Gockel Receive NAIOP NJ's Advocacy Award

NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, has selected Langan and its President/CEO David T. Gockel as recipients of the 2010 Advocacy Award. The award acknowledges the firm for its decades of support of NAIOP NJ’s public policy initiatives. Gockel will receive the Advocacy Award at the chapter’s Sixth Annual President’s Awards Dinner, held November 8 at the Hilton Short Hills.

“It is an honor to be given this award from NAIOP, an organization that has done so much for New Jersey’s commercial real estate community and the overall economic well-being of the state,” said Gockel. “I must add that NAIOP and Langan are celebrating 40 years of success in 2010, and both groups are proud of our efforts to help support commercial and industrial development in New Jersey.”

A former NAIOP Trustee, Gockel has been a member of NAIOP since 1989. He has more than 25 years of experience on major real estate developments in the U.S. and abroad, and specializes in complex urban and brownfield redevelopment projects, community planning and redevelopment, stadium/arena development, and waterfront restoration.

Since assuming leadership of Langan in 2004, Gockel successfully leveraged Langan’s long-held principles of technical excellence, practical experience, and client responsiveness to guide the firm through the most dramatic growth in its history. The firm employs more than 500 professionals, with the majority of its personnel in New Jersey. Langan’s environmental leaders have been instrumental in the establishment ofthe New Jersey Licensed Site Professional Program (LSRP), which is transforming the way the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection remediates sites for redevelopment.

“Dave Gockel and the other outstanding individuals at Langan have all made substantial, noteworthy contributions to NAIOP New Jersey, to the commercial real estate industry, and to the State of New Jersey, and we are pleased to honor them,” said Michael G. McGuinness, chief executive officer of NAIOP New Jersey.
