Problem of the Week: Computer Operations Problems: Order of Arithmetic OperationsA computer's compiler uses the rules of precedence to specify the order in which operators should be evaluated. Given that the symbol * indicates multiplication, what solution will the computer generate for the calculation shown?
According to the rules of precedence, multiplication takes precedence over addition. Multiply the 8 and 3 together, and then add 6.
Therefore, 6 + 8 * 3 is equal to 30.
