Here is a math/survey/closure question if I can express it clearly. Say you run a traverse loop, draw a long east/west rectangle (horizontal rectangle). Say you come back later and add another loop starting at the southeast corner, you run south, then west, then north and tie in roughly midway on the south line of your previous loop. Got that drawn out?

Is there any advantage to closing out to 2 known points on the first loop and tying to either the right (east) or the left (west) with the second loop. You have points in both directions.
