Monument Records

I am the president of our local chapter for Professional Surveyor’s; at our last couple of meetings we have been discussing trying to get our state (New Mexico) to intact a monument recordation law.

I know the current statues for Colorado and Arizona, but was wondering if your state has a good model that works we could try to follow? We would like to try and get the ball rolling on this. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Herb

Wyoming has a good one. So does Utah, but there is little to no enforcement, not so in WY.

Monument records or as they are called in WY, Corner Records, and in Idaho the are called CP&F'S or Corner Perpetuation and Filing Records. I've been preparing these records since I began my career. It is absurd your state hasn't mandated this subject. Recording corners is one of the best ways to protect the public during a land survey.
