Dresden, Germany, Aug. 25, 2009 - In many cases, a high quality image or rectified photo is the most efficient method for documenting data onsite. kubit PhoToPlan supports true to scale image rectification for digital photos and scanned maps/plans directly inside AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT and all verticals such as Architecture, Map 3D and Civil 3D. A few reference measures from the photographed object are sufficient to rectify the photos in a way that they can be used in CAD as a basis for taking precise measurements/dimensions or for accurately digitizing geometric elements atop the photo. Common digital cameras and wide-angle lenses can be used thanks to the sophisticated image correction methods in PhoToPlan. The actual image rectification process is simple and does not require a special knowledge of photogrammetry.

 

PhoToPlan combines the fast capture of geometrical data with photographic documentation inside a CAD plan. The software is not only applied for typical survey of as-built situations and elevations; architects, assessors, architectural historians, monument conservators and archaeologists use PhoToPlan to keep their records on geometry and status of objects (like buildings, facades, ceiling and wall paintings) in CAD plans.

Alpha-Blending and functionality for intersecting spatially distributed images allow an easy merging of panoramas and facade plans without gaps.

If ESRI geo-referenced data exists for an image, PhoToPlan can use it for positioning and scaling the photo in CAD. In addition, PhoToPlan can create ESRI WOLRD files for rectified or merged images. This means images, once positioned and scaled properly in CAD, can be used in other systems such as geographical information systems (GIS) as well.

PhoToPlan 5 supports AutoCAD 2010, AutoCAD 2010 LT and Vista in 32bit and 64bit versions. PhoToPlan 5 is available in English, German and French.
