UW-Madison Department of Geography on August 25, 2009, announced that Howard Veregin
is the new state cartographer effective Sept. 1. Veregin received his PhD from UC - Santa Barbara, and he held a faculty position in cartography at the University of Minnesota before joining Rand McNally in 2000, where he was director of their GIS division.
