Went out yesterday with one of the guys from the Tax Mapping company to GPS the official town bounds of Lyman NH.

Don't know much about GPS, but he had a Trimble Antenna and a laptop that was supposed to get us close to the monument; and locate it at 1 meter accuracy.
My job was to find the best route to the monument and then actually find the monument when we got to where is was supposed to be (according to USGS).
Luckily, I brought my compass and copies of my Perambulation reports from 10 years ago, because the GPS unit was not tracking our path correctly. We ended up having to follow my old blaze lines to get to the monuments, then turn the GPS on to locate the monuments. Lots of fun climbing up over the ledges to remote areas of my town and recovering old pins & stones from the late 1800's and early 1900's.
