The Herald - Johnston County - Launching a business in a recession might seem an odd notion, but several local business owners haven’t been afraid to get their feet wet.

Some started just as things began to go bad, while others jumped in amid the thick of the downturn. But all hope good planning and tight communities will pull them through.

“In every bad economic time, something good comes out of it,” said Craig Blim, owner of KB Land Surveying in Clayton. “It’s just kind of the roll of the dice that the one thing you’re starting a business in, it could be that one thing that really kicks off.”
