thenewsstar.com: If you’ve seen cameras rolling around town this week, you might have had a sneak peek at what will become “Desires of the Heart,” the second film for local production company R-Squared Productions.
The faith-based film company was launched by Monroe land surveyor Rodney Ray in fall 2008, producing the six-minute short film “Mumbai Baby” with a crew of nine and a cast of two. This second production will be a 40-minute short film for local broadcast that uses a crew of 23, a cast of 11 and 30 extras. It’s a big step forward for Ray, known for his stage productions and video vignettes for sermons at First Baptist Church in West Monroe. His ultimate goal is to produce quality faith-based films for national and international audiences.
“I have a passion for reaching people with the gospel,” Ray said. “I believe by utilizing creative art forms like stage and film, we can reach people who might never enter a church building.”
