help in analyzing a stone based on just a photo.

Does the cell phone photo above show a stone which would have been set in the south edge of a road in the mid-1890's?

Or does it look very similar to this concrete which used to support a fence post (which lines up within a couple of inches of a boundary line from two different directions)?
