Maine Mountain Survey

Can someone shed some light on determining the property line boundary of a large tract of land (5000 ac) with the following criteria: deeds call for monuments, abuttors, nothing at all, corner lots, generally anything in several locations; solid monuments exist such as piles of stones, ips, field stone mounuments....some original some not; locations are very reasonable and make sense; the question is....in sevral cases there are well maintained blazed lines connecting corners to corners that meander due to the topography. Some lines deviate from the direct line from monument to monument up to 100'. What is commonly held for the actual property line if it is not clearly called out in the deeds?
