Actual e-mail I received today

---------------------

Is it illegal for a homeowner to pound pins and markers into where they "think" a property line is rather than hiring a surveyor? They are trying to say that their guess is "close enough" and that their markers they're pounding in will be the property line. This is mountain property, not surveyed in many years, but few pins can be found. The ones that can't be found, so they guessed.

I don't agree with it but don't know how to stop them without high court costs. I'm hoping their attempt to set pins might be illegal and I can stop them by notifying them of that and encouraging them to hire a surveyor.

Thank you.
