An endorsement to Schinnerer’s professional liability policy, Network Protection for Design Professionals offers protection for cyber related liabilities arising out of security breaches. Coverage is triggered by an insured’s error, omission, neglect or breach of duty that results in a security breach and damage to a third party’s network, or the release or damage of a third party’s electronic information.
Network damage includes the inability of an authorized user to access a network, damage to or theft of electronic information, malicious code infection (computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, etc.), suspension or interruption of a network, or a denial of service attack. Privacy injury and, identity theft are also covered. This includes any unauthorized disclosure of private, personally, identifying information or non-public business account information.
Coverage is also provided for the insured’s cost to notify affected parties of a security breach involving private, personally identifying information when required by state or federal regulations.
