Survey Could Shift Monroe-Bibb Line

Now a stone monument seems to put his home, and about a dozen others on his street, in Monroe.

New markers in north Bibb County have people wondering where they live. It's the latest step toward resolving a 185-year border dispute between Bibb and Monroe Counties.

A few months ago, Gov. Sonny Perdue appointed a surveyor to find the official divide between the two counties. Now, several monuments have popped up, and they seem to give Monroe more property.
 
Ato Crumbly woke up to a monumental change in his front yard. A few days ago, he lived in Bibb County. Now a stone monument seems to put his home, and about a dozen others on his street, in Monroe. He says it looks out of place and could be dangerous when his kids play.
 
"There are other ways to mark that boundary, say with a flat marker," he said.
 
He says there could be benefits to living in either county, but he's mostly concerned about his family's safety.
