Local surveyors are commemorating March 15 to 21 as "National Surveyors Week" in various ways, including a proclamation and a gift of a land-mine detector.
The Rolling Hills chapter of N.J. Society of Professional Land Surveyors, comprised of about 70 members from Hunterdon, Warren and Somerset counties, bought a $1,000 detector that will be donated to a United Nations humanitarian program to help countries deal with unexploded devices, particularly in areas used by civilians.
