A repeat drunken driver who killed a land surveyor and injured two others on Interstate 95 in Jacksonville was sentenced this morning to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter.
Lisa Ann Green, 44, read a tearful apology before Circuit Judge Charles Arnold pronounced sentence in the death of Michael McAndrews, 48. Arnold also heard from McAndrews' girlfriend and two other surveyors seriously injured in the November 2007 crash at I-95 near Baymeadows Road.
Witnesses said Green was speeding up to 100 mph and weaving between lanes before swerving to avoid other vehicles and leaving the highway. Her car pinned the three surveyors against their work truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
