Merrick & Company Opens Oak Ridge, TN Office

Oak Ridge, Tennessee -  Merrick & Company, a $75 million engineering, architecture, surveying, and geospatial solutions firm, has opened a new office on Commerce Park Drive in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.  The firm has been involved in ongoing projects at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Y-12 Nuclear Security Complex for the past eight years and, during that time, has continued to build its base of clients in the south and southeast regions of the U.S.

Through the expansion at this location, the firm will be providing engineering and project management services for commercial nuclear projects as well as managing its current contracts and pursuing additional new business opportunities in the Oak Ridge and southeast U.S. markets.   The firm focuses on non-reactor nuclear design, research laboratories, renewable energy, precision mapping, and military facilities, and it will continue to expand upon commercial nuclear and other opportunities throughout the world.

“This is a significant expansion for Merrick and one that will bring new engineering, design, and project management jobs to the Oak Ridge community.   I look forward to building a team in our Oak Ridge operations office to provide technical expertise to the commercial nuclear industry, our existing clients, and new clients,” said John Buckle, vice president, and Merrick’s director of technology projects.

The firm’s most recent work includes the design of special facilities equipment for the Uranium Processing Facility at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Y-12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge.  The firm is also designing shielded facilities and specialty enclosures for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory located in Richland, Washington, and special facilities equipment for the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement project located at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.  Additional projects are being completed throughout the U.S. and internationally with the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. National Institute of Standards & Technology, Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, and the Australian Nuclear Science & Technology Organization.
