I had lunch with a surveyor that owns a firm that tells me he been very busy needs to hire more people.

He likes me, but I do not like his business model. He has been providing ALTA surveys (a lot of them). But he has not been providing item #1 - setting monumentation.

By doing (or not doing so - setting corners) the entire survey process is speeded up and the time normally on site is reduced to over half. He sends a crew to the site and they simply start shooting everything out, tying into only a few (if any) corners that may not be there. There is absolutely no boundary determination or analysis and of course the drawing is not deposited with in county. The end product is a drawing that (IMO) is nothing more than a glorified ILC or mortgage survey.
