Optech Announces Fully Integrated Shallow-Water Processing for SHOALS

Toronto, Canada – Optech Incorporated, a manufacturer of advanced lidar survey instruments, announced that its SHOALS coastal mapping system now includes seamless integrated processing of shallow water. This new capability significantly improves the post-processing workflow by enabling users to more accurately and more efficiently produce XYZ deep-water-to-land results in a single processing step. This feature, now standard with all new SHOALS systems, produces a truly seamless topographic and hydrographic model and eliminates the once labor-intensive manual editing process associated with extracting shallow water results.

“For several years Optech’s SHOALS has lead the way in performing seamless data capture from deep water to land, but the challenge has been to efficiently extract accurate XYZ results in the shallowest of waters, typically in those waters adjacent to the coastline. Until recently this has been met with relatively limited success by other manufacturers. Now Optech has overcome this challenge and offers this critical workflow capability as a standard part of its total mapping solution,” said Michael Sitar, Product Manager, Airborne Survey. Coupled with other standard features, such as classified topography, digital imagery, and 3D bottom reflectance, Optech’s SHOALS continues to offer the competitive advantages, data end-products, and workflow solutions that clients require in order to compete in today’s market of GIS total solutions.
