MoreMerrick & Company was awarded a contract to provide the Regional Independent Corporation (Corporación Autónoma Regional (CAR)) with LiDAR, digital color orthophotography, a DEM, and a DTM for a 600-meter corridor along 200-kilometers of the Bogotá River.
Aurora, CO USA – Merrick & Company, a world leader in LiDAR, digital ortho imaging, photogrammetry, and geospatial solutions was awarded a contract to provide the Regional Independent Corporation (Corporación Autónoma Regional (CAR)) with LiDAR, digital color orthophotography, a DEM, and a DTM for a 600-meter corridor along 200-kilometers of the Bogotá River. In addition, Atlas Engineering (Atlas Ingenieria LTDA) (Bogotá, Colombia), Merrick’s local partner, is providing flight operations and ground control support. Atlas will also provide a bathymetric survey of the riverbed for the entire project corridor. Awarded in February 2008, final delivery of data products is expected in February 2009.
CAR controls the water resources in the State (Departamento) of Cundinamarca, which includes the country’s capital, Bogotá. The project section of the Bogotá River is densely populated along its levees. The new data will be used for hydrology studies, erosion analysis, potential levee leak identification, and water quality and usage research. For the first time, CAR, who has been using conventional photogrammetry products, will use LiDAR and digital geospatial for some of their Bogotá River programs. Geospatial professionals will use Merrick’s MARS software to create derivative data products such as 1-metercontours and streambed profiles which will be used as input for analyses.
