Tri-Global Technologies Wins Trimble Business Partner Award for Second Year

ATHENS, GA – For the second year in a row, Tri-Global Technologies LLC has been honored as Business Partner of the Year by the Trimble Mapping & GIS Division. Tri-Global received the award last week in Denver at the Trimble Mapping & GIS North American Partners Conference.

Tri-Global Technologies develops innovative mobile mapping solutions by integrating advanced GPS and GIS technologies designed to enhance the efficiency of field personnel in the utility, oil & gas, telecommunications, public works, and pipeline industries. Tri-Global is also the co-sponsor of the Utility Locating Grant Program, which helped introduced underground mapping techniques to the utility industry in 2007.

“Tri-Global Technologies is one of our premier Business Partners in North America. Their commitment to excellence and cost-efficient geospatial solutions sets them apart from others within the industry,” said Chad Hall, National Sales Manager for the Trimble Mapping & GIS Division. “They are well deserving of the 2007 Business Partner of the Year award.”

Tri-Global Technologies received the 2007 Business Partner of the Year honor from Trimble in recognition of its development of advanced field mapping solutions and innovative marketing programs, all of which leveraged Trimble mobile GIS technology. Through these efforts in 2007, Tri-Global Technologies significantly increased the market share for its UtiliMapper and MobileStaker product lines in several key vertical markets.

“The decimeter-level accuracy offered by the latest Trimble GPS technology has opened new markets to the applications of mobile GIS mapping solutions,” said Dennis Heath, Tri-Global Technologies Managing Partner. “The solutions we have developed based on the Trimble GPS technology are ideal for mapping underground infrastructure with a high level of accuracy and confidence.”

Tri-Global Technologies created the UtiliMapper software suite to establish direct communication between Trimble GPS-based mobile GIS field data collectors and Radiodetection Ltd. underground locator devices. UtiliMapper enables users to easily collect underground utility location and attribute data for mapping, maintenance and integrity modeling. This solution is now being deployed extensively in the electric utility, oil & gas and telecommunications industries.

The Tri-Global MobileStaker is a mobile field application for use by electric utility crews designing new service drops or power line installations. Embraced by electrical cooperatives, MobileStaker runs on most Trimble mobile GIS devices with integrated GPS mapping capabilities. During power line staking operations, the utility field crew uses MobileStaker to collect the locations of poles, lights and other equipment that will be installed. The application provides highly accurate, real-time calculations of distance, bearing and deflection measurements from any selected asset location.

“We are pleased to work together with such an innovative GPS/GIS company. Their field mapping solutions, software engineering and development, customized training and data collection services are an excellent fit to our solutions,” said Doug Merrill, General Manager for the Trimble Mapping & GIS Division.

In 2007, the Utility Locating Grant Program was another milestone for Tri-Global Technologies and its co-sponsor, Radiodetection Ltd. This grant provided an integrated hardware/software bundle to three recipients for use in locating, identifying and mapping underground cables, pipes and other buried assets.

The 2007 grant recipients were:

* Virginia Utility Protection Services, Inc. (VUPS) in Roanoke, Virginia
* ArkTex Council of Governments in Texarkana, Texas
* Brooks Development Authority/Brooks City Base in San Antonio, Texas

“There is a large number of organizations that are unaware of the benefits of combining GPS with line locating sensors. Our grant program was a great instrument in introducing such tools and spotlighting a solution to accurately map underground infrastructure.” Michael R. Bellrose, Tri-Global Technologies Managing Partner.
