Ames, Iowa – Jeff Corns, Vice-President of GIS for The Schneider Corporation, was recently elected to the Iowa Geographic Information Council’s Board of Directors for a two-year term which will run from 2008 through 2010.

Corns was elected by popular vote to represent the Private Sector on the Board of Directors. He will begin his term with the other newly elected board members at the Summer Board Meeting on July 16th. He has previously served on the IGIC Board in the past, and said that he is excited to rejoin the board and serve the Iowa GIS community in this capacity again.

In addition to serving on the IGIC Board, Corns also serves on the Finance Committee on the Indiana Geographic Information Council, and on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Advisory Board for their graduate degree in GIS. He has served on a number of state and industry boards, as well as academic and professional certification boards including the GIS Certificate Institute’s Application Review Committee. Corns leads the GIS division of The Schneider Corporation, with offices in four states, including an office in Ames, Iowa. He has worked with over 40 local governments in Iowa and has been active with GIS in Iowa his entire career. Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of Iowa.
